What is Health & Wellbeing coaching?

A collaborative approach supporting you to make sustainable changes in areas such as nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, emotional wellbeing and resilience, alcohol use, smoking, relaxation and social connection. We often know WHAT we need to support our health; the difficulty can be knowing HOW to do it!

Your personal priorities may arise from general advice given by your GP or another healthcare professional, or they may be goals you have identified for yourself. Coaching can help you understand established healthy-lifestyle principles and turn general advice into manageable actions.

The approach is informed by well-established lifestyle medicine principles and behaviour-change techniques. Sessions provide time and space to explore what matters most to you, clarify your goals, identify potential barriers and decide on realistic actions that feel manageable.

Health and wellbeing are not only about making practical changes. Having protected time to pause, talk openly and feel really listened to can be valuable in itself. Sessions offer a kind, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore what matters to you, organise your thoughts and consider how you can start to improve your health and wellbeing. People often tell me that they leave feeling lighter, clearer, better able to cope and more optimistic about implementing positive change.

Who may benefit from Health & Wellbeing Coaching?

Health and wellbeing coaching may be helpful if you would like to make positive changes but feel unsure where to begin, what to prioritise or how to turn general advice into everyday habits.

You may have been encouraged by your GP or another healthcare professional to improve aspects of your diet or lifestyle, or you may simply want to take a more proactive approach to your long-term health and wellbeing.

This approach may be particularly helpful if you:

  • Would like to eat well but feel confused by conflicting nutritional information

  • Want to become more active in a realistic and enjoyable way

  • Would like to establish healthier sleep, relaxation or self-care routines

  • Feel that stress or competing demands make it difficult to prioritise your wellbeing

  • Want to support your emotional wellbeing, resilience and ability to cope

  • Are navigating a period of change and would value time to reflect on your priorities

  • Have received general lifestyle advice but need more practical support to implement it

  • Would value encouragement, accountability and a kind, non-judgemental listening ear

  • Prefer a flexible, whole-person approach rather than a rigid or one-size-fits-all programme

What does Health & Wellbeing Coaching involve?

Your initial appointment includes:

•             A 75-minute conversation exploring your current routines, priorities and goals

•             Guided reflection on your three-day food and lifestyle journal as a coaching tool

•             General evidence-informed resources about nutrition and lifestyle principles

•             Information about national physical-activity guidance, with support to identify manageable ways of working towards your chosen goals

•             An optional hypnotherapy or meditation recording for general relaxation, wellbeing or behaviour-change support

•             One brief follow-up email offering accountability and implementation support before your next appointment

Follow-up sessions:

Subsequent sessions last 45 minutes and give you an opportunity to reflect, recognise the progress you have made and explore any practical barriers you have encountered and how to overcome these.

They also provide protected time to pause, talk openly and feel listened to in a kind, supportive and non-judgemental environment. This can help you organise your thoughts, reconnect with what matters to you and approach your health and wellbeing with greater clarity and confidence.

I can support you to identify realistic next steps and consider how healthy habits might fit more comfortably and consistently into your everyday life. Sustainable change often takes time, flexibility and practice; the emphasis is on progress rather than perfection.

If helpful, follow-up appointments can be arranged approximately every four to six weeks to provide encouragement, accountability and continuing support

A supportive space

Health and wellbeing are not only about making practical changes. Having protected time to pause, talk openly and feel genuinely listened to can be valuable in itself.

Sessions offer a kind, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore what matters to you, organise your thoughts and consider your next steps. People often tell me that they leave feeling lighter, clearer, better able to cope and more optimistic about making positive changes.

What is a Lifestyle Medicine based approach?

I have achieved certification with the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine (IBLM) through their Diploma examination. I undertake regular updates and am certified with the British Association of Lifestyle Medicine. My approach is informed by well-established lifestyle medicine principles and evidence-informed behaviour-change techniques. Depending on your priorities, we may explore the following areas:

Nourishing food

General healthy-eating principles, understanding balanced meals, meal planning and finding enjoyable, manageable ways to improve the quality and variety of your diet.

Movement and physical activity

Understanding national physical-activity recommendations and exploring accessible, enjoyable ways to incorporate more movement into your everyday life.

Restorative sleep

General sleep-health principles and practical support with developing consistent, calming routines that encourage rest and recovery.

Stress management, emotional wellbeing and resilience

Creating space to pause and reflect, recognising sources of stress and exploring general relaxation, meditation, self-care and resilience-building practices.

Positive relationships and social connection

Considering how relationships, community, meaning and connection can contribute to general wellbeing, and identifying opportunities to strengthen these areas of your life.

Reducing avoidable health risks

General information and coaching support relating to areas such as smoking, alcohol use, prolonged inactivity and other everyday habits that may affect long-term wellbeing.

Please note

Health & Wellbeing Coaching is a non-medical coaching and educational service. It does not include medical or mental-health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, interpretation of symptoms or test results, individualised supplement recommendations, or personalised clinical advice.
