Functional Tests
To really understand your health, and how to improve it, it is often helpful to have more in-depth tests than are offered by your GP. Or it might be that you've had tests with your GP but would like more time to discuss and understand the data, and monitor your condition. This is where I can help.
Using simple, often at home tests (stool, breath, saliva, urine or blood) we can delve into root causes, assess functional imbalances, and make detailed risk assessments. We can look at how your body is functioning and get insights on how to improve your health. See more about commonly used tests below.
At your appointment we will discuss if any testing may be indicated and which would be the most targeted test, results are discussed at a follow up appointment. Generally I recommend we discuss any recommended tests at your appointment but if you would like to arrange a test before your initial appointment please click test packages below and see towards the bottom of the linked page.
If you have received a blood test kit you can arrange a blood draw in your own home via the link below.
Gut health and microbiome
Helpful to investigate bloating, IBS, abdominal pain, allergies, skin conditions, hormonal and weight issues. Tests look deeply into gut microbiome, inflammation, infection, digestive function, leaky gut, food sensitivity and more. Example tests include GI Effects®, Food sensitivity + gut barrier, Gut Detective (+/- food sensitivity), SIBO
IgG food sensitivity
Food sensitivty can result in not only gut disorders but also migraines, brain fog, aches and pains, skin rashes, fatigue and many other symptoms. Symptoms can be delayed so it is difficult to identify the culprit foods.
A simple finger prick blood test ( e.g. Foodprint, FIT 176) will assess levels of antibodies to foods +/- gut barrier function. Often cutting out just a few key foods can transform a patients health.
Hormonal Health
If you are feeling tired or suffering symptoms of hormonal imbalance (including (peri) menopause, weight and men's health issues) then functional hormonal testing such as full thyroid assessment, detailed female/male hormone panels (e.g. Humap, HIT ) and cortisol assessments (e.g. Adrenal profile) help us understand your hormonal balance.
General Health Tests
Fatigue, aches and pains and feeling "tired all the time" can have a wide range of causes. Together we decide the most helpful tests for you which may include thyroid, vitamin/mineral status, inflammation, toxins, adrenal stress, mitochondrial function and other factors e.g. Chronic fatigue
Male / Female Wellness With this information we can create a holistic plan to improve your symptoms.
Weight and metabolic health
Many people struggle to lose weight or are told by their GP that their BP, cholesterol or other markers are high. Testing can help us understand root imbalances so we can target effective support. Tests include detailed cholesterol, HbA1c, omega3:6, insulin, hormones, inflammation and homocysteine e.g. Cardiometabolic profile, Male / Female Wellness
SIBO Breath Test
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth can result in symptoms of abdominal bloating, diarrhoea/constiaption, pain and wind. Often symptoms are worse after eating.
This is a simple breath test which you can do at home which will show if you may have this condition and thus help direct our approach to improving gut health
