What to expect from your Integrated Medicine appointment

Thank you for considering booking an appointment with me. I understand that it is important to find the right practitioner to best support you in your healing journey. To help you in your decision I will share a little information about myself and how I work.

I am a qualified GP and still work within the NHS two days a week. Alongside conventional medicine I have always been interested in supporting patients holistically. I worked at The Natural Practice for over fifteen years developing this side of my practice and am now working independently to support my patients. I have training in hypnotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, herbal remedies, health-coaching and mental health care, and aim to integrate all of these to best support my patients. I practice trauma informed care and recognise the impact of early life experiences on the development of the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems (“psychoneuroimmunology”). I also recognise the importance of the “gut-brain-axis” (the intricate connection between the digestive system, gut microbiome, and the brain) in health and disease.

I support patients experiencing a wide range of health challenges and at all ages, but my particular interest and skills lie in supporting patients with:

Gut health issues

Concerns around their weight

Women’s hormonal issues

Fibromyalgia/CFS/adrenal fatigue

Mental health issues

Metabolic ill health e.g., obesity, diabetes/pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol.

Inflammatory conditions e.g., skin complaints, joint problems.

I offer an initial comprehensive assessment where we will discuss your history and plan how best we can work together towards your health goals. I will create a personalised health and wellbeing plan for you that may include advice around supplements, nutrition, stress management, physical activity, and other ways to improve your condition. We will also discuss if any tests (e.g., looking at gut function, stress levels, hormones, nutritional status etc.) would be helpful. These would be at an additional cost, which would be shared with you before any testing, and are always optional.

My role is to support your self-healing and help you address any underlying causes of your illness or blocks to recovery. I usually see patients over the course of 3-6 months until you have reached your goals or feel happy to self-manage. I may then recommend an appointment every 3-6 months to ensure that things stay on track and support you with any new health or life challenges. I am happy to work alongside your GP or hospital doctor(s) and will work out how best to integrate the approaches we are using with conventional treatments.
